When your tonsils are infected, you are likely to get a condition known as Tonsillitis. There are several causative agents but in most of the cases, it can be caused by either Viral or Bacterial infection.

It is easy to notice when you have this condition because it has some of the most open-headed symptoms.

Some of them include:

  • Sore Throat

  • Fever

  • Ear Pain

  • Bad Breath

  • Pain when swallowing

  • Swollen Tonsils

In most of the cases, treatment may focus on relieving the pain and several other symptoms that accrue.

However, most of the patients go for antibiotics to facilitate the healing process. Although this is a good way of relieving some of the symptoms, there are number of other ways that you can fasten the recovery process without antibiotics.

In this article, I’m going to discuss some of the most effective ways of treating tonsillitis without antibiotics.

Following ways will help you cure tonsillitis without antibiotics and natrually

1. Get Enough Rest

This is the first thing that you must do every time when you are having a hard time with a certain condition.

Getting enough rest gives your body enough time to reconstruct itself and focus all the body’s attention on dealing with the infection.

It is also a good way of relieving your body of the entire burden it is going through. While resting, the body will use all the energy in organizing the defense mechanism.

What this means is that you must sit down and take plenty of rest when you are dealing with any medical condition.

2. Salt Water Gargling

This is one of the oldest and the most effective home remedy for sore throat. What this means is that you should get some salt and warm water and gargle and rise your throat with it.

It can help soothe a sore throat and the associated pain. Salt water is also known to reduce inflammation and may at long last help treat the infection.

How to Apply it?

If this is what you want to do, then you are required to boil a glass of water and allow enough time for it to cool to manageable temperatures.

Get a ½ teaspoon of salt and add it to the glass of water.

Stir until all the salt particles dissolve completely. After that, gargle and swish through the mouth several seconds and spit.

Do this a couple of times a day for some days until the problem is solved.

3. Warm Tea & Raw Honey

The main reason why I am emphasizing on warm beverages is that they help to reduce the discomfort associated and at the same time impact of the pain caused by the infection.

A warm beverage like tea also offers the same results when used the right way.

Raw honey, on the other hand, has strong antibacterial properties that can significantly reduce the prevalence of the infection. When the Raw honey is added to the warm beverage, they work together to reduce the pain and in some other cases reduce the pain associated.

How to use it?

Take a glass of warm tea and add some raw honey and stir well before drinking.

However, before you swallow the mixture, you can first swish it around the mouth. This is to ensure that the infected area gets in touch with the beverage.

4. Use Humidifier

This is a device that most people don’t know are important. One of the main reasons why your tonsillitis case is getting worse is because of dry air. It may also be because of dry mouth.

However, when you get a humidifier to humidify the air, then you are looking for the best method of relieving all the pain.

You are supposed to keep your humidifier on especially when you are sleeping during the night.

If you don’t have a humidifier, then you should sit in a room full of steam. When buying a humidifier, you must ensure that you are getting the right humidifier to avoid more infections.

5. Licorice Lozenges

This is another great way of soothing the throat. However, you must be careful because lozenges are not made the same. Some of them contain anti-inflammatory properties and others have ingredients that can reduce the associated pain.

Go for Lozenges containing licorice because they are highly anti-inflammatory and they are the most useful.

6. Eat Something Cold

It has also be seen that eating something cold also help to treat tonsillitis. That’s why doctors recommend that if you are suffering from tonsillitis then you should eat something cold.

This gives instant relief to the pain and help in decreasing the swelling of tonsils.

7. Honey and Turmeric

Both honey and turmeric have healing and anti-inflammatory properties and if we use them together then they work like a wonder in healing tonsillitis.

To use it, do as mentioned:

  • Take almost 1-2 Tbs of Turmeric

  • Take 1 Tbs of raw Honey

  • Mix them well and make a paste

  • After making the paste, add it into 1 glass of warm water
  • Drink it daily 2-3 times
  • Use it daily for quick results

This is a very effective home remedy to get rid of the condition quickly. Just give it a try and you’ll see a great improvement.

The Bottom Line!

The above-mentioned methods are some of the best and the most effective ways of treating tonsillitis without antibiotics.

However, you must be very careful and at the same time be certain about the time when you should be going to see the doctor.

Tonsillitis is a very serious condition that can worsen if not handled the right way.

So, if you see no improvement within 2-3 days then instantly book an appointment with your doctor and go for a thorough check-up before it is too late.
