And also using organic foods leads to reduced risk of certain types of cancer.
Organic food is fresher then non organic. Fresh food is always healthy and it tastes better. Organic food is generally fresher as it doesn’t comprise of any preservatives for increasing its life span. Animals which are organically raised are never introduced to antibiotics or growth hormones. The risk of danger disease like mad cow disease reduces when animals are not feed on animals by products. Organic food is always free from GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms) In maximum countries, organic crops comprise of GMO free and organic meat derives from animals raised up on organic feed.
Organic vs inorganic:
Inorganic: For Inorganic farming they use fertilizers which are chemical rich which help the growth of plants. They use pesticides to control pests. To manage weeds they use herbicides. they Give antibiotics to animals, and also growth hormones shots and other medicines to prevent them from disease.[4]
Organic: For organic farming they use fertilizers which are naturally made, like manure or dung, to nourish the soil and plant growth. They use birds and insects, coupling disruption or tricks to decrease pests and other disease. They rotate the crops, hand weed them or they use covering to manage weeds. They give animals organic fodder and permit access in the open. They use preventive methods for disease prevention.[2]
Significance of organic farming:
Many people have mixed reviews about organic farming but the strongest point of organic farming is benefit of environment. As there are many environmental issues seen these days like many climatic changes and most important global warming, so it is important to reduce environmental hazards by not using chemical rich fertilizers. There are harmful emissions during the production of these chemical rich fertilizers and they are released in atmosphere. They have strong link with global warming issue too. They further damage our eco system when they are released in soil and when move away with water.
“Organic produce was 30% less likely to be contaminated with pesticides than conventional fruits and vegetables," said the study published on Tuesday in the medical journal Annals of Internal Medicine.
There are many researches going on for organic food, recently researchers found that organic milk and conventional milk have no difference in content of protein or fat, neither in the content of vitamins in organic food. One of the difference was found in one nutrient is 'phosphorus' which was considerably greater in organic food when compared with conventional food.
Another advantage found in organic food was that it can decrease the exposure of pesticide risk. The study, also suggested that it is not necessary that organic foods are 100% free from pesticides[3]. So organic food is a form of healthy eating practice.
With help of recent research studies, the market of organic food in India is rising at 20-22% annually. India produced certified organic products around 3.88 million tons, counting spices, basmati, tea, pulses, coffee. According to data of the government, region under organic farming had increased up to 1.08 million hectares.
